“Mortal Enchantment spins a unique twist on elemental mythology. This series is not to be missed.”
Jennifer L. Armentrout, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author

It’s been a week since all hell broke loose…

Rumors of King Taron’s weakened powers have left the air court vulnerable. Kalin is desperate to awaken her akasha powers, except she doesn’t know how. Tension within the court is at an all-time high. Pressure is mounting for her to ascend to the throne, but a halfling has never ruled over any court. To solidify her position, the council has advised her to marry Sebastian—a high ranking air elemental she’s never met and her betrothed.

Will Kalin sacrifice her relationship with Rowan to strengthen her court?

Rowan and Marcus return to a fire court in turmoil. Liana’s death has fueled the fire elementals’ distrust against the air and woodland courts. The unbalanced elements have set off natural disasters all over the mortal world. Rowan takes the throne to restore balance, promising to unite the fire court. But not all elementals are happy with his leadership. Many are secretly loyal to Valac, which means Rowan needs to find allies for his cause.

Can Rowan unify the court of fire before the elements destroy the world?

Fragile Reign Mortal Enchantment Book 3 eBook Stacey O'Neale

My favorite book in the series so far! When oh when is the next one coming out? Rarely is the second book better that the first in a series- there is a thing known as the sophomore curse for a reason. Fragile Reign did not fall to the curse but instead comes out on top as the best book in the series. It is told in dual perspective- Kalin and Rowan’s. I already loved both of these voices-Rowan’s we were introduced to in The Shadow Prince, and Kalin’s in Mortal Enchantment. I saw what you did there Mrs. O’Neale and I liked it. Fragile Reign allows us to view them together as a couple and apart as their own person.

The story picks up right where Mortal Enchantment ends. King Taron is ill from being held captive. The council decides that if Kalin is to be acting queen, she must marry a high ranking noble man. As in they pick the guy and everything- Sebastian. This doesn’t seat too well with her actual boyfriend Rowan. Now, I get that they want her to marry someone from the court but Rowan is the king of the Fire Elementals. King trumps Lord in my book although I can see how they may not want their queen to be married to the Fire King.

Kalin is under a lot of pressure in this book. There is belief that she is the akasha but something is blocking her powers. Since she can’t use them, she feels like this belief is wrong. Sebastian is around all of time. Rowan is dealing with things in his kingdom which is stressing her out as well. Interestingly enough, she doesn’t whine but instead puts her big girl pants on and takes on the council. Talk about having some gumption.

Rowan oh how I love you! Rowan is completely supportive of Kalin, even though he has some reservations. He has no problem showing this support in public and in private voicing his concerns. Ultimately, he lets her make her own decisions. This is exactly how relationships should be. He is worried about his people and he lets this worry be known. His brother and sister are still lurking in the background trying to take his throne away from him.

Fragile Reign brings with it all the feels- giddiness at the relationship of Rowan and Kalin, mistrust of the individuals in the court, the mystery of who is trying to harm her, the shock of who the big baddie is and the astonishment of what happens at the end. Speaking of that ending- umm the only question left is when is the next book going to be published?

Fragile Reign Mortal Enchantment Book 3 eBook Stacey O'Neale Reviews

Held my attention. Full of great plot, adventure, suspense. I’d recommend this book to all. Great story. Can’t wait to read the final book.
A very appropriate title for this book. It could be talking about the air court or the fire court.
But to know which one you have to read the book.
This book had so much going on. Rowan has decided to claim his throne and things are not going to be easy. In order to prove he is the rightful king he has to find a way to prove it to his people.
Meanwhile Kalin once again is to trusting and her life spirals out of control. The rescue of her father the king has its own complications.
To top it all off, Valac is causing all kinds of havoc for both courts.
As this book comes to an end we are left with a cliff hanger that is sure to have us eagerly awaiting the release of the next installment.
With each book I have found myself immersed more deeply into the story and the main characters lives.
The author has also given us some wonderful secondary characters with their own stories to share.
FIVE AKASHA STARS!!!!

Fragile Reign is the third book in the Mortal Enchantment series by Stacey O'Neale. Books should be read in order.

Stacey has done it once again!! She has written an enticing and captivating continuation of the Mortal Enchantment series!!

Fragile Reign continues the story with Kalin trying to adapt to her new lifestyle. As the princess of the air court, she is expected to take her father's place. Not only that, as the akasha she needs to awaken the powers that lie within her. Except...she doesn't know how. And to top it off, she's thrust into an arranged marriage!!! Kalin battles it all through betrayal, distrust, and scheming as she struggles to establish her rightful place on the throne.

Fragile Reign was beautiful. I got to learn more about Kalin and Rowan individually. I experienced Kalin's desperation, frustration, and hopelessness throughout the book. Rowan, as well, is also thrust into a position of authority and responsibility as the fire courts' new king. Stacey developed the characters in a way that we could see throughout the novel of how they grew, persevered, and strengthened both physically, mentally, and emotionally. I couldn't have imagined a more perfect continuation to this amazing series!!

Highly recommend the Mortal Enchantments series to fantasy and action-packed loving readers who also like a little romance thrown in )
The third book in the MORTAL ENCHANMENT series, FRAGILE REIGN follows the prequel, THE SHADOW PRINCE, and the book after which the series is named, MORTAL ENCHANMENT.

Unlike THE SHADOW PRINCE, which was told from Rowen’s point of view, and MORTAL ENCHANMENT, which was told from Kalin’s, FRAGILE REIGN alternates point of view. This threw me for the first few chapters, sometimes I forgot who’s chapter it was, but I got used to it soon enough and liked being able to get closer to both of the main characters. I did prefer Rowen’s storyline to Kalin’s. Rowen was very involved with the fire court and the power struggle going on there. Kalin moved more into the akasha story, which for me felt too much like other recent elemental stories, aka, every AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER wannabe.

Still the author did do a good job of setting high stakes and keeping me interested in the story. Sometimes pacing slows in sequels; this was not the case at all with FRAGILE REIGN.

One of my favorite parts of this book was Marcus’ story line. No spoilers, but it was great to see him come into his own.

The book ends with a great tease for the final book in the series, which I certainly plan to read when it comes out.
